Sever’s Disease
Painful inflammation at the calcaneal apophysis (heel) caused by repetitive microtrauma (overuse)
Signs/symptoms:
pain with running or jumping, no pain first thing in the morning, tenderness on medial and lateral heel with compression, no redness or swelling, child may limp after physical activity, limitations in dorsiflexion, tightness in achilles tendon, pain resolves with rest
Typically occurs during the early phases of growth spurt
