Snapping Hip Syndrome
Also known as Coxa salton
Audible click in the hip when the hip is in motion.
Typically overuse injury that involves repetitive hip flexion and extension (dance, soccer, gymnastics & running)
Causes:
External: (most common) ITB snapping over greater trochanter of femur
Pain over greater trochanter
Internal: Iliopsoas tendon snapping over bony prominence of pelvis
Anterior hip pain
Intra-articular (less common): traumatic event
Possible torn labrum
Signs/Symptoms:
Weakness in hip flexors and extensors
Pain located in the front of the hip
